Description
Disclosure: "This course contains the use of artificial intelligence."
This course is designed and taught based on real field experience in drilling and directional drilling operations with field experience working with major oilfield service companies such as SLB, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, and Weatherford. Some course material uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in the creation of certain course materials such as images, diagrams, and visual illustrations only to support the learning experience by improving clarity, structuring explanations, and presenting technical concepts in a way that is easier for students to understand.
The instructor of this course also benefited from a similar structured training program early in his career, which played an important role in helping him develop the technical foundation needed to work in drilling and directional drilling operations. The goal of this course is to provide that same type of structured knowledge plus field experience guidance to help new professionals better understand the path toward becoming a Measurement While Drilling (MWD) Engineer.
All technical content and operational insights shared in this course are based on real industry experience gained through years of working in directional drilling environments.
Become a Measurement While Drilling (MWD) Engineer in the Oil & Gas Industry
Measurement While Drilling (MWD) Engineers play a critical role in modern drilling operations. They are responsible for transmitting real-time data from downhole tools to the surface, allowing the drilling team to monitor well trajectory, formation data, and drilling performance.
In this course, you will learn the practical knowledge used by MWD engineers on real drilling rigs, based on industry experience working with major oilfield service companies such as SLB, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, and Weatherford.
This course is designed to help you understand both the technical foundation and the field workflow required to work as an MWD engineer.
What You Will Learn
- Fundamentals of Measurement While Drilling
- MWD system components
- Downhole telemetry systems (mud pulse communication)
- Directional surveys
- Surface system setup and data acquisition
- Troubleshooting MWD Signal Problems
- MWD operations during drilling, and surveying
- Communication with Directional Drillers
Who this course is for
