- Die Achtziger waren das Jahrzehnt des Michael Jackson. Mit den drei Alben „Off The Wall“, „Bad“ und „Thriller“ machte der "King of Pop" ordentlich Kasse, mit dem Musikvideo zu "Thriller" gruselte er die ganze MTV-Generation. „Moonwalker“ war der (künstlerisch gescheiterte) Versuch, auch den Filmmarkt zu erobern.
Jacksons Kinofilm besteht aus mehreren, kaum verbundenen Episoden, die Musikvideos zu Songs des Albums „Bad“ enthalten. Von simplen Konzertszenen („Man In The Mirror“) geht es über abstruse Knetexzesse („Speed Demon“) bis hin zu dem Kernstück des Films, der Verbrecher-Science-Fiction-Geschichte um „Smooth Criminal“. Hierbei stößt Michael mit seinen kindlichen Freunden (Kellie Parker, Brandon Quintin Adams und Sean Lennon) auf den fiesen Mr. Big (Joe Pesci), der ein weltweites Drogenimperium aufbauen will...
