Die 1972 gegründete Band Black Uhuru gehört zu den wichtigsten Vertreterinnen des Roots Reggae der zweiten Generation. Ihre innovative Version des Reggae katapultierte die Combo Ende der Siebziger an die Spitze der Bewegung. Mitte der Achtziger füllte die Band auch in Europa ganze Stadien. 1981 treten sie bei der 9. Rocknacht auf und begeistern das Publikum in der Essener Grugahalle mit ihrem Mix aus Roots Reggae, Rock und Pop.
The band Black Uhuru, founded in 1972, is one of the most important representatives of the roots reggae of the second generation. Their innovative version of reggae catapulted the combo to the top of the movement in the late 1970s. In the mid-eighties the band also filled entire stadiums in Europe. In 1981 they appear at the 9th Rocknacht and delight the audience in Essen's Grugahalle with their mix of roots reggae, rock and pop.
